Dec 16. Christmas Traditions in Scandinavia
This has been a loved tradition for many years. Sit down in front of the TV and watch the Advent calendars. From the traditional idyllic to the goofy, from the scary to the fun and so on. I’ve seen a lot of them and two stands out to me as the best. The first is because of the beautiful scenery in Greenland and some of my favorite actors of course and it’s for children and adults alike: “Nissebanden i Grønland” / “The Elf-gang in Greenland”. One of the most beautiful parts of it is here
and the other because of the goofiness, the music and a trio of comedians who made an Advent calendar for adults back in 1991. Three guys playing six parts, sings and speaks half Danish and half English. It became an incredible success. Even today all you have to do is saying a couple of words from a line or hum a bit from one of the songs and everyone knows that you’re talking about “The Julekalender” / “The Advent Calendar”. Maybe you have to be a Scandinav to enjoy this but I can’t help tapping my feet and singing along. You can watch one of the songs here
Have a great day..
