Christmas Stocking..

Dec 13. Christmas Traditions in Scandinavia

I see this as primarily an American tradition, probably because of all the Christmas movies I’ve seen over the years. It’s not a big thing here although sometimes I’ve seen them in stores for the kids as part of a competition. I hang a sock on the wall and put a little something extra in it just to make the receiver happy. It can be a bar of chocolate, money or something to play with. It seems nobody really knows where the tradition comes from or when it started. It’s been tied to St. Nicholas and that sounds quite plausible. I think it’s a lovely tradition and maybe more will adopt it in the future.

Have a great day..
