Risalamande – almond gift..

Dec 12. Christmas Traditions in Scandinavia

Maybe the dish shouldn’t be translated. I found out that this tradition is Danish too. The dish is made of leftover rice porridge from yesterday, mixed with vanilla, sugar and whipped cream. Now it’s one of the best desserts in the world. Mild, tasty, smooth, delicious and something I can eat all the time. Served with warm cherry sauce. There’s no Christmas Eve without this dish. Simple as that. Sometimes there’s chopped almonds in it, making the game harder. You see.. there’s an whole almond hidden somewhere in the bowl and there’s a present for the person who finds that one almond. Eating contest, yes?! No wonder everyone goes on a diet in January 😁. The fun variant is that in Norway and Finland they put the almond in the porridge but the game and the rules are the same as far as I can see. Dig in..

Have a great day..
